First thing first, let me address some fundamentals around index funds.
Now index funds are common interchanged with ASX ETFs. AKA exchange-traded funds.
As a matter of fact, they are incredibly similar, except:
ETFs are traded like stocks on an exchange, whereas index funds are bought and sold at prices set at the end of the day with the providers.
On top of that, there might be a minimum investment with traditional index funds.
Other than that, they both track an index, and investors reap the benefit of instant diversification depending on the index.
It’s more technically correct to refer to the assets in this video as ETFs, so I’ll use the word ETFs instead of index funds.
Another question I had when i started investing in ETFs, is how the heck does management fees work?
No, it’s not like your Netflix bill or your phone bill.
They don’t send you an invoice for you to pay for it, the fund automatically takes their cut at the end of the year within the fund.
But if you want to learn more, make sure you read the product disclosure statements.
Oh and let’s not forget about net asset value, and why is it different from the prices I am paying on the stock market.
My young grasshopper, net asset value represents all the assets in the fund, including the cash minus any liabilities.
And prices for that ETF might be different from net asset value because the price is determined by the number of buyers and sellers in the market.
If there are more buyers in the market, then the share price could be higher than the net value per share.
That’s essentially it around fundamentals, so let’s talk about the driving factors that have put the first high growth ETF on my watchlist. (and no I am not sponsored by any company to make this video)
