Could Cartoon Network become second-rate? A commentary on failing ratings and bad performance



Cartoon Network has a variety of pressing challenges that put the channel’s future in doubt. From poor ratings to shows that are getting worse and awful scheduling, you’d be forgiven for looking at the current state of Cartoon Network and feeling like Cartoon Network is dying. I offer commentary as to why Cartoon Network is failing, and the moves that are hurting it in 2020, 2021, and beyond, such as giving shows to HBO Max, their worrying new content patterns, and how #CartoonNetwork has trained their viewers to actually not watch the channel.
